In order to encourage as many overseas competitors as possible to the 2009 5O5 World Championship, the St. Francis Yacht Club is able to offer ocean transportation at very favorable economics with world wide ocean container shipping line, APL Ltd. APL can transport up to eight containers from certain ports in Australia and Europe to the San Francisco Bay Area and back.

The 2009 SAP 5O5 World Championship will be sailed on the eastern reach of San Francisco Bay, in a zone that is relatively shallow and relatively tide-protected. Being free of the narrow rivers of current and countercurrent found in deeper parts of the bay, and clear of the shipping channels, these waters are prime for championship competition. 5O5s, Stars, Farr 40s and many other classes have raced here for major titles.

The St. Francis Yacht Club members are excited to welcome you to the City of San Francisco, the Bay and our Club.
We are honored to host the 2009 5O5 World Championship - and the StFYC Organizing Committee has been working for over six months to insure that this event will be one of the best ever.
